Want A Great Career? Try Planning For One!

March 31st, 2008 by Randy Nichols

There are no shortcuts to successful careers or successful lives. There may be some luck involved when people win lotteries and bets, but this does not mean that everyone is going to be lucky and hit that million-dollar jackpot. Those people have to make some quick decisions in their lives, and make instant career changes.

For those who are not close to hitting that million-dollar jackpot, here are some tips that will help you change your career for the better.

1. Snap back to reality - As easy as it may seem, changing careers can be a challenging and daunting experience and far from easy. It all boils down to how you perceive it. If you want to change your career, then do it quickly. Put in all your effort and all the strength that you have. Remember that you are wasting more effort and energy being stuck in a job that you do not like, and one that doesn’t appeal to you.

2. Do not expect miracles - There are going to be no miracles where your career change is concerned. Do not think that a career change is going to come to you miraculously. The only person who can help you escape from your current dead-end career is you! Be proactive. Don’t just sit there complacently and expect some dream career to land in your lap. It is not going to happen unless you take some steps to make it happen. You need to really go out there and do some work.

3. Analyze your values, passions and skills - When you have decided to start working on your career change, the first thing that you have to do is analyze the things that matter to you the most. A Bartenders Guide or (Bartender Recipes)

March 28th, 2008 by Randy Nichols

A lot of people out there ask me how to go about becoming a bartender. The answer is simple, learn how to make some drinks and learn how to be efficient. Now that may not sound like a lot, but in realize that being a bartender is a very big responsibility. As easy as it sounds, not many people are willing to take the time out of their busy schedules to look over some bartender recipes. This to me is insane. When you go out to a club or your local bar, you trust that when you order a drink it is properly made and won’t taste awful ( If it does who do you think will get blamed first?). That’s right! The Bartender!

Being a bartender is as I mentioned before, a big responsibility. We are in charge of the bottom line for the establishment. It is a solid fact that almost 60% of the revenue for any club or restaurant comes from liquor sales. 60%! So when we are doing our job, the company is putting their trust (and revenue) on our shoulders. No other person has as much freedom as the bartender. We are seldom watched, we have the authority over many of the patrons of the club, we can cut off or kick out unruly people, we can give away free drinks, we make the party happen.

We work very awkward hours sometimes with some very unruly people. I have had bottles thrown at me, punches swung, been screamed at, slapped, and thrown up on. Not fun. Getting to work early in the morning or late at night, or both, setting up the bar and standing for hours on end can be physically exhausting. Cutting yourself on bottles happens frequently as well as slamming your hands in various coolers tends to make the job less than fun at times.

So why do I do it? The answer is simple, the money and the prestige. The avera Read the rest of this entry »
