Architecture Graduates: First Year Jobs
February 28th, 2012 Filed under: Career Advice — Career Advice AuthorNo CommentsArchitecture is a profession, which defines how and where people stay in their environment through designing, planning, and supervising constructions of buildings. Architecture professionals are mandated to offer building construction services that meet to safety, applications and aesthetic appearance. With the growing need for buildings from homes, residential, through commercial to beach property, it is certain that there is increasing demand for architectural services. An architecture degree is the stepping stone in acquiring key knowledge and skills that are required to pursue a career in architecture.
When a person graduates from an architectural college, there are jobs that can be pursued such as architectural home designing. When taking architectural studies, it is important to complement studies with practical jobs that help nurture practical skills to the candidates throughout their learning. An entry for an architecture study program is by itself an investment for ones career. It is the building block for a successful career in architectural design, building and construction.
Therefore, there is a need to lay a sound footing for the course. There are two kinds of candidates who are eligible to register for the architecture course in a primed architectural college and these are;- Those with prior architecture studies.
- Those without any architecture background but have other college studies.
If you have graduated from a high school and you would like to join an undergraduate program in architecture, you can pursue your first undergraduate degree from a primed college and develop a foundation for your career. Similarly, if you have an undergraduate degree in architecture and would like to pursue a graduate degree, you can enhance your studies by undertaking a master’s program.
Intern programs are offered by colleges to help fostering practical skills in the candidates’ fields of study. Interns are organized under a mentorship program that is aimed to impart the candidates with key empirical skills in their architectural field. Candidates are assigned jobs to undertake throughout the first year and this begins to bridge the theory studies with experience. The candidates can conceptualize the architectural theories and principles in a practical way.
By the time a candidate completes the course; essential empirical skills in their career have already been gained. These candidates are able to take up the jobs in the market through skills they acquired in their first year jobs. Architectures work with engineers and builders, federal state and local governments. Others work in specialized fields such as designing of health facilities, shopping centers, schools, and urban renewal housing projects. When an architecture candidate graduates, he or she is able to carry out the following tasks;- Develop building site plans where construction will be carried out.
- Develop computer aided design and drafting-CADD for the buildings.
- Evaluate the building budget.
- Supervise the construction project.
- Offer contract administration for the projects.
- Provide building technology to be applied in different structures.
- Ensure that environmental standards are met.
- Ensure that the safety standards of the building are maintained.
These are some of the aspects, which are covered through the first year jobs when pursuing an architecture study program. The job programs also offer an economic support for the candidate during their studies.
With a college that offers convenient and flexible architecture graduate programs, this implies that those in the job market can join the college and take evening classes. This further opens doors for those who would like to further their career in architectural field by acquiring more knowledge. You don’t need prior studies in architecture so that you become an architecture graduate. If you have pursued other fields and would like take up architectural studies, you can register for an extended graduate degree course.
